|Give a Christmas Gift that Makes a Difference!Karma Cats 2014 Calendar
Not only can you give someone you love a beautiful gift this Christmas, but you can also help save endangered species! Give a Karma Cats 2014 Calendar – The stunning photos which include Tigers, Lions, Cheetahs, Snow Leopards and Cougars (see a sample in this newsletter) have been generously donated to Karma Cats by Steph Lauren Photography, and all the design work completed by Linda Wong and Lucille Keen. The calendar has been produced 100% through volunteers to raise funds to help protect animals in the wild. Thank you to everyone who has been so generous with their time and work.
All proceeds from calendar sales will support Fauna and Flora International’s (FFI) work in Kerinci National Park, Sumatra, Indonesia. Here Debbie Martyr and her team run anti-poaching patrols where they remove snares and track poachers, as well as stop illegal loggers from destroying the small amounts of remaining forest required by the tigers and many other species to survive.
The National Park covers approximately 13,700 km2 and is one of the most important tiger habitats in the world and possibly the most important in SE Asia. There are only approximately 300 – 400 Sumatran Tigers left in the wild with approximately half of these living in or bordering Kerinci Seblat National Park. The two biggest threats tigers face today are habitat destruction and poaching for their body parts for use in traditional Asian medicines. Poaching is often inhumane with the use of snares and poisoning resulting in agonising deaths for the animals.
Calendars are available from the 10th of December, and are $15 each and $4 postage if required. To order yours today, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
